‘Guitar God’ Eric Clapton gave the name ‘Blackie’ to his Fender Stratocaster Hybrid. This guitar is the result of three vintage Strats that Clapton had brought from a guitar shop in Texas. After disassembling the three guitars, he took out the best parts of them and made his own customized guitar. He used this one from 1970 to 1985, and it appeared on the cover of the 1977 album, Showhand. One of the most famous guitars in history, this one was sold for $959,500 at an auction.
3. Washburn 22 Series Hawk
Bob Marley, the famous Jamaican musician needs no introduction, does he? He was the sole reason behind the popularity of reggae music worldwide. He once gave away a Washburn 22 Series Hawk guitar to a technician named Gary Carlsen. This guitar was custom made for Bob Marley, the estimated value of it being around $1.2 million. It is now a national asset of the country of Jamaica.
2. 1968 Fender Stratocaster
Jimmy Hendrix, the American musician and songwriter, who is considered to be the greatest man to ever play the guitar and one of the most important musicians in history, used this Strat in Wood stock that was sold off to Paul Allen, co founder of Microsoft for $2 million. Jimmy Hendrix or James Marshall Hendrix passed away in 1970 due to drug use.

Well, it does not fall into the category of legendary guitars used by famous artists, but it was sold for a whopping $2.7 million in 2005 at an auction in Doha, Qatar on November 16th, 2005 to raise funds for the Tsunami affected victims. It was bought one year go by Qatar’s royal family for a million dollars and was donated back to the Asia Program, for the fund raiser. Technically speaking, this guitar has generated a total of $3.7 million.
